Summary

Taking advantage of today’s powerful multi-core processors and growing hard drive capacities, Flashlog 8 pushes back the barriers on traditional line, radio capture and internet logging with the ability to record up to sixty-four stereo line channels, thirty-two stereo FM stations, thirty-two AM stations, four DAB+ ensembles and/or thirty-two internet streams.

Line inputs can be sourced from physical sound cards or IP-based streams such as Axia, Wheatnet and Dante. AM, FM and DAB/DAB+ logging requires the respective Sonifex radio capture PCIe cards. Internet radio stream logging supports the Shoutcast, Icecast, Flash (RTMP) and HLS protocols and records the audio in its native format (typically AAC or MP3).

Flashlog also records the metadata from FM RDS, internet streams and DAB DLS text and MOT slideshows, displaying it in sync with the audio on playback.

The number of logging days can be independently set for each line, AM or FM channel, DAB+ ensemble and internet stream. The options, ranging from seven days to two years, are automatically adjusted to take account of available storage space. Recordings older than the set number of days are progressively overwritten by new.

Real-time archiving of individual audio channels to networked storage on selected days and time ranges is provided, allowing important programmes to be permanently stored.

An embedded SNMP agent allows remote monitoring of all the inputs for audio/carrier/stream status, as well as metadata on FM, DAB and internet sources.

All text fields are Unicode-based, allowing multilingual display and entry.

Multiple workstations can play back any of the recorded audio and metadata through the free Flashback application. Log extracts can be saved as MP3 (not available in the USA until 2018) as well was WAV, WMA and AVI files.
